Justice & Peace

We are convinced that justice is the foundation of an inclusive and peaceful society. It implies respect for the rights of everyone, equity in the distribution of resources and the fight against inequalities. Without justice, there can be no lasting peace. From this observation, it is an imperative for every person of goodwill to bring about an equitable and peaceful society. It is “by bringing this to the attention of political authorities and local government” (Capitular Acts, 28th General Chapter, p. 27), that justice becomes a reality.

Peace is the fruit of justice. It is not only limited to the absence of wars and conflicts but includes the harmonious co-existence between individuals, families, and communities. True peace requires a commitment to justice and dialogue. On this basis, as Missionaries of Africa, aware that “The evils that oppress those whom we meet often come from unjust structures at the local, national, regional or international level. Collaborating with the local Church and relevant government or non-governmental organisations, we engage in advocacy for their human rights, for peace and reconciliation” (Capitular Acts, 27th General Chapter, p. 33).
